Duplicate SKU Codes: find, compare, merge, and safely remove duplicate SKU codes in Shop-Script.

Duplicate SKU Codes — keep your catalog organized without manually searching for duplicates

Duplicate SKU Codes is a free plugin for Webasyst Shop-Script that finds duplicate SKU codes, groups them clearly, and helps you process the detected matches safely.

The plugin is designed for catalogs where identical SKUs appear after imports, supplier synchronization, or manual editing. Instead of searching for duplicates in spreadsheets, the administrator gets a ready-made list of groups, product comparisons, and a set of manual actions.

The plugin is distributed free of charge

All listed features are available without purchasing a license, paying for a subscription, or registering with external services.

Only an installed Webasyst and Shop-Script are required.

Safe catalog operations

Before merging, the plugin creates an operation plan, shows the changes that will be made, and requires explicit administrator confirmation.

Data snapshots are created for reversible operations. If an error occurs, an automatic rollback is performed, and available snapshots can also be restored manually.

Unknown relationships with third-party tables, different currencies, incompatible Shop-Script PREMIUM quantity settings, and digital files block potentially unsafe merging or deletion.

Search and Bulk Product Processing by SKU

The plugin helps fix the consequences of incorrect bulk imports. Products and SKUs can be selected not only as duplicates, but also by the contents of the SKU code.

  • Prefix search — for example, all SKU codes starting with ES-.
  • Fragment search — for example, SKU codes containing &mdash-.
  • “AND” and “OR” conditions — you can require either all completed conditions to match or any one of them.
  • Preview — before processing, the plugin shows the number of matching products and SKUs, as well as the first 100 matches.
  • Disable SKUs — only the matched product variants are disabled.
  • Safe archiving — you can archive products where all SKUs match, or explicitly allow archiving when only one SKU matches.
  • Batch processing — large selections are processed sequentially without exceeding server limits.
  • Recovery snapshots — a snapshot is created for every modified batch and is available in the operation log.

No permanent product deletion by pattern

The tool disables SKUs or archives products. Products are not permanently deleted because they may be linked to orders, reviews, and third-party plugins.

Before running bulk processing, we recommend creating a backup and carefully reviewing the preview results.

How does the plugin work?

  1. Manual scan launch — the administrator starts a catalog check from the plugin interface.
  2. SKU normalization — SKUs are compared according to the selected rules for letter case, spaces, separators, leading zeros, prefixes, and suffixes.
  3. Group creation — matches are divided into exact, normalized, visually similar, and probable groups.
  4. Product comparison — each group shows products, SKUs, stock levels, prices, images, categories, and features.
  5. Preview plan — before changing the catalog, the plugin shows which data will be transferred or modified.
  6. Operation confirmation — merging, hiding, archiving, or deletion is performed only after an administrator command.

Main features

  • Exact search — finds completely identical SKU values.
  • Search after normalization — takes into account letter case, spaces, separators, leading zeros, prefixes, suffixes, and a custom regular expression.
  • Visually similar characters — helps detect mixed Cyrillic and Latin characters in SKU codes.
  • Duplicates within one product — shows duplicate SKUs among variants of the same product.
  • Duplicates across products — groups identical SKUs from different product pages.
  • Probable matches — additional matching by name, URL, description, barcode, external ID, manufacturer, model, and images.
  • Selecting the primary product and SKU — the administrator chooses which record should be kept.
  • Smart primary record selection — a ranking is available based on activity, sales, stock levels, images, and data completeness.
  • Data merging — transfers unique SKUs and images, combines stock levels, categories, and tags, and fills empty content fields.
  • Manual actions — rename or disable an SKU, move a product to a category, archive a product, or add a pair to exclusions.
  • Permanent deletion of duplicate SKUs — available only for duplicates within the same product and requires entering the confirmation word DELETE.
  • Snapshots and restoration — reversible operations can be restored from the log while the snapshot remains available.
  • Catalog diagnostics — checks for broken relationships between products, SKUs, stock records, images, and categories.
  • CSV report — detected groups can be exported for additional review.
  • Protection against new duplicates — when enabled, the plugin checks the normalized SKU before saving a product.

Flexible SKU comparison rules

In the settings, you can choose which differences should be ignored:

  • letter case;
  • leading and trailing spaces;
  • internal spaces;
  • separators - _ / \ . ,;
  • leading zeros;
  • specified prefixes and suffixes;
  • a custom regular expression and replacement;
  • minimum and maximum SKU length;
  • prohibited characters.

The built-in sandbox lets you test the rules on sample values without changing the catalog.

Important before the first merge

First, create a standard backup of your store and test the plugin on several groups.

Configure the rules, run a scan, open a detected group, and carefully review the primary product, SKU, stock levels, prices, and the planned operation.

Permanently deleted SKUs cannot be restored. For normal processing, it is recommended to use safe merging, disabling, or archiving.

Manual mode only

The plugin does not use CRON and does not process the catalog on a schedule. Scanning, bulk processing, merging, archiving, and deletion are started manually by the administrator.

Long-running operations are processed in batches with progress displayed, so the administrator can see the number of processed SKUs and the completion percentage.

Shop-Script PREMIUM support

The plugin supports fractional stock quantities, quantity precision, minimum order quantity, order step, stock and base units, and conversion factors.

If the SKUs being merged have different critical PREMIUM settings, the operation is blocked until manual review.

Webasyst interface

  • Webasyst UI 1.3 support;
  • Webasyst UI 2.0 support;
  • light and dark UI 2.0 themes;
  • responsive display on narrow screens;
  • Russian and English languages.

Requirements

  • Webasyst;
  • Shop-Script 8.0 or later;
  • PHP 7.4 or later;
  • Shop-Script administrator permissions for catalog operations.

Who is this plugin for?

  • stores with large catalogs and regular imports;
  • stores receiving products from multiple suppliers;
  • administrators who need to find duplicate SKUs;
  • stores with duplicate SKUs among variants of the same product;
  • users who want to merge data safely and preserve the operation history.

Summary

Duplicate SKU Codes helps keep the Shop-Script catalog organized by finding duplicate SKUs, comparing related products, selecting the primary record, and safely processing duplicates.

The plugin works locally in your Webasyst installation, does not require an external API, does not use automatic scheduled processing, and is distributed free of charge.
